Teaching an old dog new tricks.



My first cooking course today, has to be added to one of the best days in my life list. Something in my head connected! I felt like a fish swimming in the sea for the very first time. 

We covered choux, puff and sweet pastry. I've had a go at baking pastries a fair few times. Today was different, it wasn't just me and a recipe book.I finally had someone to ask the how's and why's.

Paris-Brest. The Velo shaped choux was said to have been created by a pastry chief in honor of the 1200km bicycle race from Paris- Brest-Paris (PBP).
